Captain Charles E. Henry(1836-1906)
Captain C. E. Henry was the Secretary of this committee to reunite their old Civil War Regiment of the O.V.I. (Ohio Voluntary Infantry) after 40 years. The little booklet lists several hundred names and the cities where the men now reside.
He had two poems in this little booklet. The first is called “The 42nd Boys” and is to be sung to the tune of an old Scottish ballad called “My Ain Country” .
Under the heading it says “Dedicated to the wives and children of comrades by C. E. Henry. At a meeting of the 42nd Regiment at the G.A.R (Grand Army of the Republic) Encampment at Cleveland 40 years after a resolution was passed unanimously to have these two poems printed with the list of names of the 42nd comrades present.”
The second poem is called “Growing Love” and is sung to a tune called “The Banks of the Wabash”.
