Article: Erin’s Trip to GA -January 2007

I was in Atlanta, Georgia for a long MLK weekend. Two of my friends from Hiram got first grade teaching jobs in the Henry County school district which is just outside of Atlanta. Jen is from Ohio so I have seen her since graduation, but the other one, Emily, is from Texas so it was fun to have a reunion. They live in a cute townhouse that made coming back to my midget sized efficiency seem all the more smaller. I spent one day with Emily in her classroom. I was able to help with some individual vocabulary testing and taught one little girl about time and was rewarded with the “lightbulb” flashing in her eyes as she got it. I can see why there are so many teachers in the family…it was a lot of fun. We went hiking one day…did some shopping…and did the whole nightlife scene too. The weekend passed quickly. Atlanta seems to have a growing population based on the number of new housing developments going in. There were lots of people my age and the southern acc ent was a lot of fun to be around too! I found a road called Henry Street in Henry County. I climbed the sign-post to get a good picture of my time in the motherland. :o) ERIN
