Poem: Wedding of the Mandarin Moon
Peter and Tash's wedding day remembered in the stanzas of a poem by Dan Henry
Wedding of the Mandarin Moon
June 3, 2023
Benches by the bridge, all the people wait,
Excitement - anticipation - build and inflate.
Down a forest path, in a four-wheeler rig,
The couple descend for their marital gig.
Ross captures moments with his lens,
Memories to cherish of family and friends.
Peter dons his Aleut hat with pride,
Arriving barefooted with his love by his side.
Natasha wears her ribbon dress for Pete,
With soft leather moccasins covering her feet.
Dan tries to speak so all there may hear,
while both he and Peter hold back wedding tears.
In the garage, beer pong battles heartedly wage,
And women dominate the flip cup stage.
The Steinmetz's party bus on schedule arrives,
with Jell-O shots keeping the party alive.
Food is home cooked with a Mexican theme,
Kitchen ladies chief as a culinary dream.
Wine overflows, and the beer runs dry,
Wedding toast made with glasses held high.
Polka dancing, party lights and music play higher,
while people relax and get buzzed by the fire.
In a culver Mike and Gus roll down with a thrust,
getting cuts and bruises and partly concussed.
The mystery duckling for the kids - a delight,
while the mandarin moon shines its gorgeous orange light.
So Peter and Tash, in your love ever spoon,
In the light of the wedding of the mandarin moon.
