Bainbridge Historical Society Presentation on the Henry Cemetery October 8, 2014 Quick Notes ~

Did anyone realize that Brewster Road used to intersect Pettibone Road and continue through the woods we hike through to get to the caves?  I know that when we hike the road we often pass by the old house, fireplace, and barn foundations.

Brewster Road came out onto Geauga Lake Rd. directly across from Fields Road – forming an intersection there.  The bridge across the river was a “toll bridge”.  Travelers had to pay a small fee to travel across it.

There used to be a post office along this part of Brewster Road.  It is presently the home of Roger Rohde who farms the Snake Hill Farms property with Lou and Savory Rorimer.  It is up the Rorimer driveway and to the left.

Also, as a part of the Historical Society meeting it was announced that Barbie Henry and Andy Messner’s C.E. Henry House Dollhouse has been moved to a north side bedroom of the Bissell-Tucek House.  It is the main feature of the  “toy room” which contains old toys of the times.

A new pot-bellied stove has also been added to the house.

Nancy Grossman Goodman, is the new Assistant curator.  (Many family members know her from Lake Lucerne.) We have been promised the power point from the presentation.  When it is sent to us, we will pass it on!!

September 2015 our Gene Henry family was given a tour of the Southwest Burying Ground by Joan Demirjian. She also opened her home to us to tour.  It is the house that many remember as Chuck and Blanche’s house on Brewster Rd.
