Story: Detached Bicept
Poor Dan - June 10, 2008
Dan: This will be short because typing is no longer an easy skill. Short story: my bicep muscle pulled away from the bone while doing some work—ouch. I hope to be seen by a surgeon on Thursday and have surgery on Tuesday of next week. Not much pain, but I am next to useless (don’t say it!).
Here’s Cindy with her take…
Cindy: Dan was trying to put a trailer that was loaded with three pieces of furniture on the ball hitch. He came into the room holding his arm and in much pain. It took some convincing to get him to agree to be seen. He thought it was just a pulled muscle that would heal in time. I’m happy that I persisted and convinced him to get it checked out. This is an injury that will need surgery to get his muscle connected to the bone again. This will slow him down considerably. I looked it up, and it could take 6-9 months post-surgery for a complete recovery, although it all depends on how badly the muscle pulled away. Poor Dan! He has been looking for pity, so when you write or speak to him, tell him, “Poor you.” This will help him greatly.
The difficult part of all this is getting him not to lift and try to do things that could further injure himself. 😐 He doesn’t do well with idleness.
