This is a remarkable and true tale of Polly’s lost Kenston class ring and how it came back to her.

Copies of e-mails exchanged between Anna, Polly and a Good Samaritan in New Hampshire.

Anna: February 22, 2007 Aunt Polly, I am in Web Design right now and my teacher is the webmaster for the KHS website. He just asked me if I had a relative who graduated in1985. I wasn’t sure so he showed me an email he recieved. It stated:

Lisa Thompson (Ring finder): To whom it may concern: Recently walking on a Florida Beach I found a Kenston High School ring. The HS ring in from the Class of 1985 with an engraving of Polly L. Henry. I would like to get the ring back to her. If it’s possible to get in contact with Polly or someone in her Class, I’d appreciate the passing of my email address, so arrangements can be made to get her ring back. Many Thanks, Lisa Thompson

Anna: I can’t believe she found and will return it!! Awesome! Love, Anna

Polly: Dear Lisa Thompson. I am Polly Henry! I could not believe this email when I opened it from my niece. I graduated from Kenston High School in1985, and I lost my ring at Wiggins Pass. My niece, Anna Henry, is a senior at Kenston now, and her teacher asked her about me. Kenston High is up in Northeast Ohio, about 20 miles southeast of Cleveland. What a neat thing you have done – tracking me down and all. I’m just tickled, and thrilled to know that my class ring has been found. Unbelievable! I am the reading coach at Lely High School, in Collier County. Where are you? How long ago did you find it? Can I come and get it? My office number is 239-377-2107. My cell is 239-248-9680. And my home phone is 239-213-1349.

Lisa: Hi Polly, this just made my day, I’m just as thrilled as you!! I found your ring while walking on the beach at Wiggins Pass State Park, I think about a year ago, it just appeared through the sand. I gave some effort to find you from the day I found it, my whole intension was getting the ring back to you. With a very demanding son at the age of 1 at the time (and still is), I had little time for myself! I kept it in my spice drawer, saw it everyday and each time said I NEED to do some research. My son now two and with a rare nap yesterday, I made it happen. WHAHOO!!! – Sorry it took so long. I’m actually up in Seabrook, NH, but my husband and I purchased a secondary residence in Naples about 1 1/2yrs ago. We try to get down about two-three times a year for about month at a time, we just came back to NH this past Sunday. I hope to get back down in May for the month. I’m also excited to hear your in the school system, perhaps I could get some personal thoughts from you on Florida schools. They don’t seem to have a good reputation up here. I’d love to try calling and chatting, but it seems I can never have a normal conversation on the phone these days, but I will try. Since my plan is to get back down in May for the month, we could possibly meet up then to get your ring back to you or I could mail it to you. Your call. Goes to show, put just a little effort into something you get GREAT RESULTS!! Look forward to talking with you, Lisa

Below are three emails in the order they were received. February 21, 2007 To whom it may concern: Recently walking on a Florida Beach I found a Kenston High School ring. Many Thanks, Lisa Thompson February 22, 2007 Ronnie, many thanks to you and Anna. This certainly made my day. Polly and I have been in contact. Thanks so much! Lisa February 24, 2007 Hi Mr. Continenza! This is the Polly Henry. Thanks so much for your part in this beautiful story. Lisa and I have been back and forth with communications, and this is just a wonderful ending to one story, and a great beginning of another. I think I have made a new friend!

How the ring was lost: So the story goes like this. I moved down here to Naples 3 and a half years ago, and I met a wonderful man. About a year and a half later, he presented me with an engagement ring and a marriage proposal. Later he whined about how the gal gets a ring to wear, and the guy has to wait until the wedding, so I let him wear my high school class ring. He didn’t wear it much, but he DID have it on when we were at the beach one day, Wiggins Pass. We were playing catch with a football when the ring flew off his little finger. We searched and searched, but came up with nothing. This was a year and a half ago! Last year, this angel, Lisa, found it while walking the beach. She and her husband had purchased a second home down here, and they are here only 3 times a year. You know the rest of the story! Thank you for your part in this. I don’t remember having my name engraved in the ring. Warm wishes! Polly Henry
